Advanced Treatment Units (ATUs)
-
Advanced Treatment Units (ATUs) are advanced wastewater systems that use oxygen to break down organic materials, providing an efficient and environmentally friendly solution for wastewater treatment. They are ideal for residential, commercial, and remote applications where conventional systems may not suffice.
-
ATUs operate by introducing air into the wastewater, creating an oxygen-rich environment for bacteria to thrive. These bacteria break down organic materials more effectively than anaerobic systems, resulting in cleaner effluent that can often be safely discharged or used in secondary applications.
-
Enhanced Treatment Efficiency: Breaks down organic matter more effectively than conventional systems.
Environmentally Friendly: Produces cleaner effluent that helps protect local ecosystems.
Versatile Applications: Suitable for residential, commercial, and remote sites.
Durable Construction: Built to withstand tough environments and ensure long-term performance.
-
ATUs are an excellent choice if:
You Have Poor Soil Conditions: If your property has clay, sandy, or rocky soil that does not allow proper drainage, ATUs can perform better than conventional systems.
You Have Limited Space: ATUs work well in smaller areas where traditional drain fields may not fit.
You Need Advanced Treatment: If you’re in a sensitive environmental area, such as near water sources or wetlands, ATUs provide cleaner effluent that protects the environment.
Your Local Regulations Require It: Some municipalities mandate the use of ATUs in areas where septic systems need to meet stricter standards.
You Want a More Efficient System: ATUs treat wastewater more effectively, which can reduce the size of your leach field and the overall system footprint.
If any of these apply to your property, an ATU could be the perfect solution for your wastewater needs. Contact us to learn more or to get a custom quote.
Advanced Treatment Units (ATUs)
At K Martin Construction LLC, we specialize in crafting high-quality Advanced Treatment Units (ATUs) designed to provide efficient and environmentally friendly wastewater treatment solutions. Whether you’re dealing with challenging site conditions, stricter environmental regulations, steep slopes, or limited space, our ATUs are engineered to meet your needs with durability and reliability.
What Are ATUs?
Advanced Treatment Units (ATUs) are advanced septic systems that use aerates the effluent to accelerate the breakdown of organic materials in wastewater. Unlike conventional septic systems, which rely on natural bacterial activity in low-oxygen conditions, AK-Octic ATUs introduce air into the treatment process, creating an oxygen-rich environment for aerobic bacteria to thrive. This results in a higher level of wastewater treatment, producing cleaner effluent that is safer for discharge or reuse in secondary applications.
How Do ATUs Work?
Primary Pre-Treatment: Wastewater enters the system’s pre-treatment chamber, where solids settle and are separated from the liquid.
Aeration Chamber: Air is introduced into the wastewater, encouraging the growth of aerobic bacteria that break down organic matter more effectively.
Clarification: In this stage, the minute particulate is allowed to settle to the bottom and return to the primary chamber.
Discharge: The final, treated effluent is discharged. In some cases, it can be used in applications like irrigation or safely reintroduced to the environment. An additional U/V disinfectant unit can be installed in this chamber to further reduce discharge requirements.
Why Choose an ATU?
1. Improved Treatment Efficiency:
ATUs process wastewater more thoroughly than conventional systems, resulting in cleaner effluent with lower levels of pollutants.
2. Suitable for Difficult Sites:
ATUs are ideal for properties with poor soil drainage, high water tables, or limited space, where traditional septic systems may not work effectively.
3. Environmentally Friendly:
The advanced treatment process protects sensitive ecosystems by reducing contaminants before wastewater is discharged.
4. Flexible Applications:
Our ATUs are highly versatile and can be customized to fit residential, commercial, and remote applications.
5. Compliance with Regulations:
In areas with stringent wastewater treatment requirements, ATUs help meet local and state environmental standards.
Is an ATU Right for You?
You might benefit from an ATU if:
Your property has poor or challenging soil conditions.
You have a smaller lot size and cannot install a large drain field.
You are in an environmentally sensitive area, such as near a body of water or wetland.
Your local regulations require advanced wastewater treatment.
You want a more efficient, long-lasting solution than a conventional septic system.
You can benefit from a reduction of set backs to potable water.
You have steep slopes that make conventional systems challenging.
